Goodwin, and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine’s Center for Advanced Reproductive Services to have their frozen embryos destroyed in the event of a divorce was enforceable. Bilbao and Goodwin did have one child through embryo implantation. In the midst of the couple’s divorce in 2016, Goodwin claimed the embryos should be allowed to remain viable in case the couple got back together and decided to have a child....

On August 30, 2016, Evan Minton was scheduled to have a hysterectomy at the Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, about ten miles from Sacramento. Mercy is a Catholic hospital, but it was close to Minton’s home in Fair Oaks and was covered under his insurance. Additionally Minton’s doctor, Lindsey Dawson, had performed numerous hysterectomies there. Two days before the procedure, though, a nurse called to discuss the surgery and Minton mentioned he was trans....

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services rule, published November 5, would have required health care providers receiving funding from the programs to get their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by December 6 and their second by January 4. The original November 30 decision by U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty banned the mandate across the country. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals made the decision to change Doughty’s ruling by only applying it to 14 states that sued in the Louisiana federal court....

“The Clatsop County Public Health Department was informed Thursday of what appears to be a major outbreak of COVID-19 among employees of the Pacific Seafood facility in Warrenton,” read a statement on the Clatsop County website. “Testing of the plant’s 159-member night shift conducted earlier this week by a private laboratory revealed that 77 of the workers tested positive for the illness,” the statement confirmed. None of the infected workers have been hospitalized and the affected individuals are being quarantined....
