For those unfamiliar with the Cotton franchise, it is a series of shoot ’em up video games that originated in 1991 with the release of Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams. The games originally were sold as arcade games, but it didn’t take long for them to get home console ports, initially to Sega. There have been games released in the years since then, but this is looking to be the franchise’s first major revival in years.

This reboot will launch on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on February 25th, but only in Japan. Players outside of that region will need to order a Japanese copy if they want to play it or wait until a localized version becomes available. Beyond that, there was also a reaffirmation of the upcoming 2021 installment to the Cotton franchise.

Back in December of 2019, a new entry for the Cotton franchise was announced, but now it’s confirmed to be releasing sometime during 2021. Fans still don’t have an exact release date so they’ll have to wait for more information, but hopefully the imminent release of Cotton: Reboot will help to keep them preoccupied until that day finally comes.

Cotton has just launched its 30th anniversary website.
