In the midst of the battle for new hardware spotlight supremacy, Sony and Nintendo went toe-to-toe while Microsoft, who barely bothered to show up, was busy drinking out of the spit bucket. Nintendo, not content to wait around until Apple finally decides to let the iPad play games with the Apple TV, went ahead and showed off its new console, the Wii U. This sparkly little gadget features a fancy, and probably schmancy, tablet-based controller.
The touch-based controls promise a WarioWare game in which playing “unroll the toilet paper” will feel so close to the real thing that if you left some egg salad out in the sun long enough and let the aroma spread around your apartment, the experience would be indistinguishable from reality. Let’s not forget that the ability to magically beam embarrassing bachelor party pics of your friend while his fiancee and future mother-in-law are in the room will tuly let him feel the same amount of shame and regret as the mystery girl in the photo. This is truly the future of gaming.
